A Bluegrass Band to quench your thirst ! Providing lively musical
renditions for special occasions, Nevada Rain was formed in August 2004
and has been
evolving as a local favorite band in the Reno area.
THE BAND
Kathi Scott: Acoustic guitar, vocals. Kathi learned to play folk music on her brother's homemade guitar and has been involved in Bluegrass for over 10
years. She also performs with the Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association, and is the coordinator for the Monday Nighters.
Karen Roemmich: Bass, mandolin, vocals. Inheriting a guitar and vocal impressions from her sister got her started "Bluegrassin' " She leaves
Bluegrass music on for her dogs when she's not home ..."so they'll think I'm there!" She also plays in the local band, West Wind.
Jim Buehler: Fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, jewsharp and vocals. Jim sang in choir as a boy, and played trumpet in the marching band. In high school
he traded his old bicycle for a beat up guitar and has never looked back. He also plays in the local band HomeMade Jam, as well as playing first alto
domra for the Sierra Nevada Balalaika Society's performing ensemble.
Jerry McNally: Mandolin, acoustic guitar, vocals: Growing up around old country and Bluegrass in Maine, Jerry learned to play acoustic guitar from
his uncle at age 14 and has played old time country and now Bluegrass tunes, ever since.
Rick Sparks: Banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobro, vocals: Raised singing in church choirs, Rick began playing banjo and guitar at age 13 and has taught
his many instruments for the last two years to numerous students in the Reno area. He also plays in the local bands, HomeMade Jam and West Wind.
Besides Bluegrass music, Nevada Rain also incorporates a variety of other musical styles and has performed for and is available for festivals, private parties
and many fund raising events.
